Volunteer for Northmont FISH (15 participants)

The Northmont FISH mission statement is  “to facilitate life change by meeting foundational needs through nourishing relationships. “ They also site Matthew 25:35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was stranger and you invited me in.  This organization provides support to Happy Corner’s Monday Night Meal program in the provision of bread and baked goods that participants in Happy Corner's program can choose from for home use and also occasionally the donation of commercial sized canned goods for their use.

Those who choose this project will help out by working in the Northmont FISH clothing closet or their Food pantry with the following tasks:
The Clothing Closet--In this space volunteers will evaluate the quality of clothing, help organize and restock materials for shopping and do some light cleaning.
The Food Pantry--Volunteers will be asked to check expiration dates, sort food products by type, fill available grocery orders and do some light cleaning.

Create cards for BRC residents/attach tags to balloons

If you want to explore your creative side while serving others, this project is for you. Judy Boles will lead this group as they make cards for residents at the Brethren Retirement Community. Another group will blow up balloons and attach cards which will be used during the day on Saturday. This event will be held onsite.

Maintenance work at Cricket Holler (unlimited participants)

Cricket Holler is the Boy Scout Camp that the District uses each summer and winter to hold our different camps.  It is a large camp with many trails, paths, woods, and buildings.  The ranger at Cricket Holler, Jasper Godeke, is excited to welcome people from the District to help in a fall work project making trails and paths clear, cutting brush, trimming around buildings, gathering and stacking wood for campfires, and other small tasks that will improve the whole camp. No tools are necessary, but appropriate clothes and sturdy gloves will be needed for this outside service project.  Our Southern Ohio/Kentucky District has been blessed to partner with the Boy Scouts in using their facility to hold our camps.  The partnership is strong and well respected by both of us.  Here is an opportunity to give back to the Boy Scouts and show our appreciation for the use of Cricket Holler.
